Team & role

Ready for review

Team collab & my role

I joined as a contract senior product designer to support the rebrand rollout and build the design system, alongside a small but mighty team of four.

We knocked-heads across almost every part of the project, so I’ll mostly say "we". But everyone played a major role and owned big pieces of the work.

Early on, we helped guide the external agency, working out how the new brand would apply across digital. We brought our perspectives together to push for an accessible, usable, digital-first direction.

We set up how we’d work, defining rituals, agreeing tools and laying the groundwork for our collaboration.

We then split the end-to-end journeys, each of us taking on large sections to redesign at pace, while building components and reviewing each other’s work along the way.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Cassie. We contracted her as part of a team to help us deliver a large scale brand redesign against extremely tight (some might say impossible) deadlines. Because we do like an over the top challenge we also decided to move our team to Figma, and build a brand new design system as part of the project. Cassie is an incredibly talented UI designer, and played a critical role in building out a sophisticated digital style guide and design system. I relied heavily on Cassie to push the boundaries of what could be achieved within quite restrictive brand guidelines. She has ninja level capabilities to hit demanding headlines, which is always reassuring when working on large, complex projects.

Ideation

Each of us explored how the brand could be applied across the existing UI. The final direction pulled together the strongest elements, quick alignment with no ego.

'Send' became our test bed

High traffic, high complexity and packed with components. We used it to flesh out the functional UI, testing patterns, refine the visuals and setting the tone.

Nailing the details

While we all fed into the look and feel, I finessed, pinpointing colour, spacing and hierarchy to make the UI feel clean, bright and intentional.

Slicing it up

Once the foundations were set, we split up the work. Each of us owned large journeys and redesigned them at pacee, checking in constantly to audit components, peer review, align on patterns and mould a shared design system.

System built in-flight

We weren't just using the system, we built it as we went, together. Shared audits, knowledge sharing, regular crits and collective decision-making shaped the design language and library as we designed. All of us contributing to the component building and documentation.

My piece of the pie

I redesigned flows across Quick Send, Tracking & Diverting, My Account, My Places, Ratings, CRM and transactional email templates, news, blog and more. I also built core components like page headers, flagged heuristic issues and filled the backlog with UX improvements.

If I could go back - I would animate these icons.

This is where the system started

Outcomes & impact...

delivered a huge ui overhaul, on time

created the go-to design system for Evri

improved design culture and cross-functional collaboration

delivered products that helped shift public perception of the brand

improved the overall usability (even if mostly by aesthetic usability effect)

nailed it

nailed it

Rebuilt trust, delivered a full UI overhaul and shipped a design system that stuck - 3M+ 5-star reviews, 15% growth and a brand people now recommend.

We drove design maturity forward, tightened up how design and dev worked together and set a new baseline for quality.

If I had the chance again, I’d push harder for user validation on the visual direction. And I’d carve out time for the sprinkles: micro-interactions, moments of delight, connection building. The kind of detail that builds loyalty.

There are also a few small UI tweaks I’d still love to go back and make (I'd give that nav bar more room to breathe). And while the UX optimisations didn’t make it into the first release, they were logged, prioritised and eventually delivered. We laid damn good groundwork.

We moved fast. We made it stick. And we left the product, and the practice, in a better place.
